We had a super day at the Rerewhakaaitu Rodeo. There were cowboys riding bucking horses and lassoing bulls. It was completely random that we heard about it and there were no tourists there. What shone through more than anything was the community feeling and how the guys seemed to care about the animals as much as the cowboys.
We relaxed out the day by checking into a campsite with its own hot pools in Waikite. Nice.
