We set off on our Peruhop adventure with our guide, Christian, first stop Paracas, five hours from Lima.
We went round the stunning desert National Reserve with some great lookouts and volcano sand beaches.
And the Cathedral which looks less cathedrally since the 2007 earthquake struck.
We went for a walk in the evening up to the posh bit near the national reserve. The properties were massive, but sadly most seemed empty with their rich owners elsewhere perhaps. We loved the flocks of pelicans flying over and thought it was great seeing the massive jellyfish in the water until we noticed more and more dead ones on the sand and realised the tide had caught them.
We had tried to go to Islas Ballestas island (referred to as the poor man’s Galapagos) on our first day but they wouldn’t let us on with Boo. So Olive and Selina went the next day. The boat took them really close to the islands and they enjoyed seeing lots of sea lions and other wildlife close up.
