Our last stop in Colombia was the national park. We stayed just outside the entrance in the lovely Kaguiwa Lodge.
The surrounding area was private and we could walk down to a gorgeous river to paddle and watch the monkeys and big birds up high at sunset.
There was also a one hour trek up to a great viewpoint out across the park and sea. It was very slopy!
The national park itself was impressive, to save time we rode horse back through jungle for an hour to get to the best beach (La Piscina), great for the eyes, terrible for the bum!
We really enjoyed the comfort and space of the lodge and the super food, even though poor Olive had an upset tummy. Then we had a stopover in Santa Marta before heading for our flight to Peru. Slightly hairy as we missed our flight - we have had a lot of emails changing details of different flights here. There was one in there about the flight being an hour earlier but the confirmed details a few days before departure definitely showed the original time. Anyways, after hours of standing at check in, we got a flight for later in the day and staggered into our Peruvian hotel in Lima at 3am! Never good missing a flight….
Cheers Colombia, we had a beach-tastic time!
